A Teacher Freedom Project poll conducted by YouGov found that even a year after the Supreme Court’s decision on the landmark labor case, Janus v. AFSCME, 52 percent of teachers did not know that under Janus, they can leave their union without paying a fee. Additionally, 83 percent of K-12 teachers didn’t fully understand their rights with respect to union membership.
